Me as a consumer of music

Me as a consumer of music

Music in today’s generation is a major impact for the majority of people’s lives. With many different genres of music and different artists becoming musicians, it’s difficult to find a favourite artist. Listening to music at stressful times can help boost your mental state with loud beats that sound great on a loud speaker. It can also help motivate your physical state. When at the gym, playing blaring music through your earphones, you forget about everything around you and go into your own little world and exercise better than without music. Even writing this essay I am listening to music, which shows how much of an impact it has to us all.

Depending on the song or album will depend on whether it is purchased either as a physical copy or not. Classical bangers that are used on vinyl players are the only albums I will personally purchase as a hard copy. Because there are so many new songs being released daily, it would cost a fortune to buy all these songs, which is the main reason why I download songs using a YouTube converter. As well as that, it is easier to play the song through my phone onto a wireless speaker than having a hard copy that isn’t compatible.

My favourite artists are Young Thug, Fetty Wap, and Migos  which are all known to compose and perform ‘Hip-hop’ music. The beats in which Fetty Wap performs too flow extremely well which makes the song sound good is why I listen to him a lot. Young Thug has some extraordinary lyrics that suggest one meaning but actually mean something else, and Migos just work well together in performing great songs. I also like Garage music as I enjoy the different beats you can use as well as the freedom is which the music you can make. Making Drum n Bass is a genre I like listening to occasionally but at a festival because the loudness and the atmosphere can be amazing and whilst you are not in a sober state and music sounds differently too when you are sober.

As I have grown up, the main factor of the reason I listen to the music I do now is because of the people I associate with. The music I listen to now compared to five years ago is different because I have been shown different genres by other people and recognised that other music genres are good as well as the ones I would listen to at that point. Other musicians that become popular throughout time influence the whole music industry because once they are more known and get favouritism by other consumers like myself, they can adapt the music they perform to make you see it in a way that they want you too rather than how you would like too. It is harder for this too happen though as there is so many popular artists in todays generation.

There isn’t a specific genre of music that I don’t particularly like. If I song hasn’t got a catchy beat or the musician doesn’t include some lyrics that are smartly composed then then is a high chance I wont like the song. Although, when songs try to include more than one genre in a song, it can become too much and ruin the whole song completely. This doesn’t happen often but when it does happen, it can rarely create a positive impact.
